We Know Just How You Feel

Many people, just like you, come to Overeaters Anonymous because they’re unhappy about their relationship to food — including what, when and how much they eat; particular food cravings and obsessions; behaviors to purge what they’ve eaten; and/or concerns about body image.

You are not alone. Members of OA know exactly how you feel. We, too, have had an unhealthy preoccupation with food and weight and have experienced feelings of shame and self-loathing because of it.

Fortunately, many of us have found recovery from our problems, freedom from food obsession — and hope — by attending OA meetings and working the 12 steps with a sponsor and other OA members.

On the right (below if you are on a phone or tablet) you’ll find some helpful resources about our program, including a checklist that can help you determine if you’re a compulsive eater. Plus, you’ll find a listing of OA meetings in Chicago and Evanston. At the bottom of the list you’ll find a link to the Newcomers page of the OA bookstore, where you can purchase books and pamphlets about working the program, stories from other compulsive eaters, and workbooks to help you with the steps.
